Why study Sustainability Policy & Management at Coastal Georgia?

Students in the Sustainability Policy and Management concentration are trained to plan, carry out, and supervise environmental sustainability solutions in a variety of professional settings. By studying and learning these skills at Coastal, you will be at the forefront of communities managing issues such as sea level rise, wetlands conservation, estuarine fisheries policy, and coastal zone policy. Our setting on the coast provides a distinct location to practice sustainability and launch a career in this rapidly growing industry.

What will I learn?

The Sustainability Policy and Management concentration is designed to provide training in policy, communication, and public management knowledge necessary for the application of core environmental science principles necessary to drive long term sustainability solutions. Coursework builds upon the foundational courses that all Environmental Sciences majors complete to prepare them for careers focused on developing sustainability policy and managing sustainability solutions at public/private organizations. Coursework will further span a range of topics including but not limited to environmental policy, emergency management, environmental communication, and environmental economics.

What can I do when I graduate?

This concentration is specifically designed to provide the skills and knowledge base to launch careers in sustainability management in private, academic, government (local, state, federal), and non-profit sectors. Students will be prepared to drive sustainability solutions relevant to a variety of critical industries including energy production, earth materials and economic minerals, forest products, and marine/coastal resources.
