Brunswick, GA – Chef Matthew Raiford and a team of students from the culinary arts program of the School for Business and Public Affairs are preparing and serving a sit-down dinner to assist Helping Hugs for Haiti raise money to complete the Education Center for the people of Côtes-de-fer, Haiti. The dinner, with live entertainment as well as live and silent auctions, will be held Saturday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the St. William Catholic Church Parish Hall, 2300 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island.

Côtes-de-fer is St. William’s twin parish. According to Mary Lynch, spokesperson for Helping Hugs, Inc., the Haitians have been working to restore their church and facilities since the 2009 earthquake devastated the area. The new Education Center will house classrooms, lodging for instructors and missionaries, and the rectory for the parish priest. The first story was completed with funds raised by last year’s benefit. This year’s benefit has a goal of sufficient funds to complete the second story.
