The College of Coastal Georgia will host its seventh annual campus-wide undergraduate research conference on Monday, April 26. The Symposium on Undergraduate Research and Collaborative Explorations (SOURCE) highlights students’ faculty-mentored research and scholarship. It will be presented in a virtual format again this year. SOURCE will go live on Monday starting at 10 a.m.

SOURCE promotes the significance of research and scholarship, and enhances the professional skills of students. The symposium provides students an opportunity to gain experience in presenting their research and receive feedback which can enable further research and discussions. The collaborative research efforts between students and faculty across disciplines will be available for students, faculty, staff, and the community at-large to explore. Video presentations were added to the symposium last year, with this year’s event featuring three video presentations and 25 poster presentations.

“An increasing number of students are conducting original research across disciplines at the College. Many of these students have presented their projects at regional and national professional conferences. SOURCE gives them the opportunity to share their work locally – with friends, family, and their community, as well as beyond with the virtual format,” said Director of Service-Learning and Undergraduate Research Dr. Kimberly Mannahan. “Engaging in undergraduate research fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. SOURCE is a place where the students can demonstrate those abilities while building their professional presentation skills and enhancing their academic and professional credentials.”
