Mariner fans are encouraged to wear pink at Saturday’s basketball games against Thomas University for Play4Kay. The Play4Kay initiative is named after former North Carolina State University Women’s Basketball Coach Kay Yow. After being in remission for 17 years, her cancer recurred during the 2004-2005 basketball season. Play4Kay is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for cancer research on the court, on campus, and in the community.

During Saturday’s games, teams and coaches will be wearing pink items to demonstrate their support of Play4Kay and those affected by cancer. There will also be a donation bucket at the ticket table for those who wish to make a contribution to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which has raised has funds for cancer research and related projects since 2007.
