Mariners Sail into Cyber Space

College of Coastal Georgia students studying cyber security recently participated in the Global Cyberlympics competition hosted by the EC-Council Foundation. Cyberlympics is an online cyber security competition in which teams from all over the world compete in a series of challenges that span nearly all areas of cyber security such as pen testing, forensics, malware, log analysis, system exploitation, and physical security. Teams competed in a 12-hour online elimination round on Friday. The seven students who represented Coastal Georgia were Catalina Falo, Robert Moffatt, Eric Gravelle, Flamur Ramiqi, Leo Walker, Hunter Berger, and Maria Sanchez. The competition started at 8 p.m. and the team worked through the night and into the next morning solving problems in digital forensics, web applications, and much more. The Coastal Georgia team ranked 105 out of 269 teams.

Dr. Nelbert “Doc” St. Clair is the new assistant professor of Cyber Defense and Criminal Justice for the School of Business and Public Management. St. Clair anticipates that the cyber security program at the College will continue to grow. He said students are learning the skills needed to protect networks in the workforce today.
