The library of the College of Coastal Georgia will host Author Talk: Tim Spofford on March 12 to discuss Spofford’s latest book “What the Children Told Us.”

Spofford is a journalist and an author. His book tells the story of psychologists Dr. Kenneth Clark and Dr. Mamie Clark, and their partnership in highlighting the psychological effects of racial segregation. The couple’s famous “doll test” played a key role in the 1954 landmark Brown v. Board of Education ruling against segregation in education. The Clarks’ story is one of courage, love, and an unfailing belief that Black children deserved better than what society was prepared to give them.

Professor of Psychology Dr. Carla Bluhm will interview Spofford about his book and the significance of the Clarks’ activism. The discussion will be held in Stembler Theatre from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to the campus and local community.
