Brunswick, GA – The Radiologic Sciences program of the College of Coastal Georgia has received notification from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) of an additional three-year award extension to the program accreditation. The additional three years brings the total accreditation to the maximum of eight years, according to John W. Eichinger, Associate Professor and Program Director.

“The accreditation extension to 2020 confirms the Coastal Georgia program is in compliance with the Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiography,” Eichinger said. “This is great news for the College and the program, which has had a highly successful history.”

The Radiologic Sciences program provides training in the art and science of radiologic technology, Eichinger explained, through courses in patient care, radiographic positioning, pathology, radiation physics, and radiation protection.

JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and medical dosimetry, according to the JRCERT website.
