Coastal Georgia students are helping to answer the question many are asking in the auto world: which is superior, man or machine?

The students are studying criminal justice at the College in the School of Business and Public Management. The students, professors, and even our own Captain Jack headed to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) to meet FLETC’s Driver and Marine Division.

The students participated in important research examining the difference between driving simulators and on-road driving performance. The research was approved by the College’s Institutional Review Board. Students had the opportunity to train on driving simulators and drive fully equipped police cars on real-world drivers training courses. The outcomes will be used to help inform the future of drivers training for our nation’s law enforcement officers and agents.

This research opportunity reflects the strong partnership that exists between the College of Coastal Georgia and FLETC. The research outcomes will likely be presented at national (and possibly, international conferences) and publications.
