Dr. Tracy L. Pellett selected as next Glenville State President
Brunswick, GA – Dr. Tracy L. Pellett, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at College of Coastal Georgia, has been selected to serve as the 24th President of Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia. He will join the Glenville State staff on July 1, 2017.
“My wife Heidi and I look forward with great anticipation and enthusiasm to becoming part of this respected institution and supportive community, but I would be remiss if I didn’t say that I will certainly miss the faculty, staff, students and community support here at Coastal Georgia,” said Dr. Pellett.
He is currently serving as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and was the Interim Vice President of Advancement for part of the 2015-2016 academic year. He previously served as Associate Provost of Academic and Student Life for three years and Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Studies for five years at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington.
Dr. Pellett has 29 years of experience as an educator, teacher educator, professor and academic administrator, including his time spent as Professor of Education at CWU and Minnesota State University-Mankato and Assistant Professor or Education at University of Arkansas-Monticello and Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
During his 25-year tenure in higher education, Dr. Pellett has been instrumental in leading academic program development and review efforts, institutional strategic planning, assessment, accreditation, and department, college and university-wide improvement endeavors. More importantly, however, he has remained a fierce advocate for student access, having supported infrastructure and faculty development to enhance online offerings, dual enrollment, and competency based instruction.
“Dr. Pellett has inspired much growth in a short amount of time, and has lived up to his promise to set Coastal Georgia swiftly on a new path. His leadership and oversight will surely be missed on our campus but we have full confidence that he will continue to be a strong voice for the students,” said CCGA President Greg Aloia.
“It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve alongside Dr. Pellett and we wish him the very best next fall in his new role as president,” Dr. Aloia added.
Dr. Pellett earned his doctorate in curriculum and instruction/sport pedagogy from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah; his master’s in teacher education and motor learning from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana; and his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Some of his achievements include receiving the Minnesota State University, Mankato Presidential Teaching Scholar Fellow Award, and his appointments to the Mankato Area Youth Athletic Association Board of Directors, Ellensburg Parks and Recreation commission, and, more recently, the Golden Isles United Way Board of Directors.
