Brunswick, GA – Jaime Parker-Lewis knows that diversity enhances the cultural richness of a society. That’s why events like the 6th Annual International Fest are vital in creating a welcoming environment for students and members of the community to share their own customs and traditions and to learn more about different cultures.

One of the most popular community events held on the Brunswick campus, the 6th Annual International Fest will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. March 31 on the Southeast Georgia Conference Center lawn. Admission is free to CCGA students, faculty, staff and the public. Food tickets are $1 apiece; CCGA students with ID will receive six free food tickets.

“The 6th Annual International Fest is the perfect opportunity for the CCGA and Brunswick communities to come together to celebrate our global community. Partnering with the Abbott Institute shows our students the importance of community engagement while showcasing our student involvement in campus activities,” said Parker-Lewis, Assistant Dean of Student Life.

“Each year, we offer different performances and vendors to expose our students to diversity outside the college while our culture expo educates our students with the diversity that exists on our campus. We hope that people will come out to both enjoy the event, but also to support our local businesses who participate as vendors.”

The event, which is hosted by the College of Coastal Georgia Division of Student Affairs and International Initiatives and is in partnership with the Robert S. Abbott Race Unity Institute, Inc., will include CultureExpo Marketplace booths, Global Food Bazaar, Kidsfest activities, and numerous performances by Klezmer Local 42, Jones A Phones (featuring CCGA alumna, Crystal Jones), and Acrobatrix.

The list of sponsoring organizations and businesses are Abysinia Baptist Church, Baha’l Faith of Glynn County, Bluemoon Publishing, CCGA Association of Coastal Educators, CCGA International Student Association, CCGA Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Elaine Deaver SOLUTIONS, Island Jerk Caribbean Restaurant, Nature Gifts, PFLAG Brunswick, Temple Beth Tefilloh, and Unitarian Universalists of Coastal Georgia.
