The College of Coastal Georgia is excited to announce its 3rd annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event on Wednesday, October 11, beginning at 10 a.m. The Walk will be hosted by the College’s Office of Student Well-Being and Support to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and is part of the International Men’s March to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a fun and engaging community initiative that aims to put an end to domestic, sexual, and gender violence. Men from all walks of life will unite in a spirited demonstration of solidarity by walking a mile in red heels, symbolizing their unwavering support for women everywhere. Past participants have included representatives from local government, law enforcement, the community, Campus Police, faculty, staff, and students. The walk on campus will start in front of the campus library, then past the Campus Center, and through the academic commons areas before heading back to the library.

The community is invited to walk or cheer on the men as they walk in high heels. A supply of heels will be available for participants on a first come, first served basis. Registration begins at 9 a.m. on the day of the event or register early on www.Eventbrite.com and search for “Walk A Mile.”

The Walk will also showcase the efforts of community organizations dedicated to eradicating violence against women. Organizations such as the Glynn Community Crisis Center, the Connie Smith Rape Crisis Center and Georgia Legal Services will be present to share information and resources.
