Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is returning to the College of Coastal Georgia campus for a second time as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The walk, which will take place on October 24, beginning at 10 a.m., is hosted by the College’s Student Health Center and is part of the International Men’s March to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence.

Walk A Mile in Her Shoes is a playful opportunity for men to bring awareness of violence against women by walking a mile in high heels around the campus. The event was a success last year with participants from local government, law enforcement, the community, Campus Police, faculty, and students. Organizers are hoping to see even more people attend the event. Participants will start walking at the campus library, then past the Campus Center, and through the academic commons areas before heading back to the library.

The community is invited to walk or cheer on the men as they walk in high heels. A supply of heels will be available for participants. Several community organizations and vendors will be on-hand at the Walk and a survivor of domestic violence will share her story.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. on the day of the event. Early registration for teams and individuals is now open at www.EventBright.com by searching for “Walk A Mile.”
