Scott S. Williamson Named Interim Vice President for Advancement

BRUNSWICK, GA., Feb. 27, 2018-Scott S. Williamson recently retired from Coca-Cola North America after working his way up from graduate student intern to vice president for public affairs and communications. After 25 years with Coca-Cola, Williamson was ready to explore new challenges. That exploration has taken him full circle, back to his childhood hometown of Brunswick, Ga.

The Brunswick-based College of Coastal Georgia has selected Williamson to serve as interim vice president for advancement. In his new role, he will oversee the College’s communications and development teams while working closely with the College of Coastal Georgia Foundation.

College of Coastal Georgia Interim President Meg Amstutz believes Williamson will be a significant asset to the College.

“Scott Williamson will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the College of Coastal Georgia. Just as importantly, he brings a passion for both the students of the College and the Brunswick-Golden Isles community,” said Amstutz. “To have someone who could invest his talents virtually anywhere invest them here is truly exciting.”

For Williamson, the position provides an opportunity to get more involved with a community about which he cares deeply. “The Golden Isles is my home and the College is an integral part of this community. The future of this region is inexorably tied to the future of the College,” said Williamson. “I look forward to helping the College continue to grow and positively impact the lives of students and, in turn, the Golden Isles community.”

Williamson has already begun his service to the College by teaching a marketing course in the School of Business and Public Management. During the past two months as an adjunct professor, Williamson has gained a new perspective on the College. It is a perspective that drove his decision to take on the role as interim vice president for advancement. “The College of Coastal Georgia is a special place. The faculty and staff are committed to helping our students succeed and achieve their academic goals,” said Williamson. “The College’s advancement efforts can help to make it possible for more and more students to benefit from the quality education and caring environment offered here. I’m excited to be a part of that effort.”
