Military Times has ranked the College of Coastal Georgia on its 2023 “Best for Vets: Colleges” list. This is the ninth consecutive year that the College has been recognized by Military Times as a veteran-friendly campus.
The “Best for Vets” ranking is the largest and most comprehensive annual ranking of schools for military service members and veterans. Each year, a survey is sent to colleges and universities across the nation evaluating student success, financial assistance, military-specific resources and programs, and other factors. The rankings have become a go-to resource for schools to use to spread the word about their veteran programs, to help veterans make important decisions about their educational planning, and to explain how to use the education benefits they earned through military service.
Over 300 schools made the list this year, with the College ranking 28 for the Southeast region.
Coastal Georgia offers resources for veterans at both the Brunswick campus and Camden Center, such as the veteran’s study lounges and the student organization Veterans Academic Learning Opportunities and Resources, also known as VALOR. The dedicated Veterans Services staff work to engage veterans in tutoring, counseling, financial aid assistance, military-related service projects, social events for vets and military families, and other activities that enhance their college experience.
One such event is the annual Veterans Day Ceremony hosted by VALOR and the Office of Student Affairs. This year, the ceremony will take place on Friday, November 10, on the Campus Center patio, starting at 2 p.m. The event is open to the community, and will honor all who served and are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.
