The College of Coastal Georgia is honored to announce the establishment of the Kennedy Ashley Waymer Memorial Scholarship, created in partnership with the Waymer family and the My Angel in the Outfield: The Kennedy Waymer Foundation.
The scholarship commemorates the life and legacy of Kennedy Waymer, a student-athlete at the College whose strength, faith, and perseverance left a lasting impression on teammates, coaches, and the campus community. Even while facing the challenges of cancer, Kennedy remained committed to her education and her team, embodying resilience and grace in every aspect of her life.
The Kennedy Ashley Waymer Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to student-athletes who reflect the qualities Kennedy demonstrated so powerfully—leadership, determination, academic commitment, and a genuine desire to serve others.
“This scholarship ensures that Kennedy’s spirit will continue to inspire generations of student-athletes at Coastal Georgia,” said Dr. Johnny L. Evans Jr., president of the College of Coastal Georgia. “Her courage and character represent the very best of what it means to be a Mariner. We are deeply grateful to the Waymer family and the My Angel in the Outfield Foundation for creating a legacy that will transform lives and support students for years to come.”
The scholarship is part of the broader mission of the My Angel in the Outfield Foundation, which seeks to support children and families affected by cancer while turning personal loss into meaningful community impact. Through this initiative, Kennedy’s story will continue to uplift and encourage others facing adversity.
“Our goal is to make sure Kennedy’s story continues to inspire others,” said Sandra Waymer, Kennedy’s mother and founder of the foundation. “She never gave up, and through this scholarship, her legacy will continue to uplift and support students for years to come.”
The College of Coastal Georgia Foundation will administer the scholarship, ensuring that Kennedy’s legacy remains a lasting source of opportunity and inspiration for student-athletes.
