Brunswick, GA – Diana Leal of St. Simons Island was selected as the Outstanding Staff Member of the Year for the College of Coastal Georgia. The annual award, which recognizes a staff member best exemplifying excellence during the past year, was presented August 12 during Fall Launch, a faculty and staff assembly to kick off the new academic year.

In making the presentation, Phyllis Broadwell, Director of Human Resources & Auxiliary Operations, cited Leal’s positive attitude, strong work ethic, caring attitude, innovative and creative problem solving, and professionalism.

“This year’s recipient is a consummate professional who not only meets the criteria for this award, but exceeds it,” Broadwell said. “This employee goes out of her way to support others and help them to achieve their goals and does whatever it takes to ensure that the information is accurate. This employee is also always quick to volunteer for various functions on campus.” Broadwell used adjectives such as “excellent customer service,” “dedicated” and “enthusiastic” to describe Leal.

“I am extremely honored to receive this award,” Leal said. “I truly enjoy the teamwork environment at CCGA and it feels great to be recognized for my contributions.”

Leal joined the College staff in 2010 as coordinator of tutorial services with the TRiO student support program and is currently a research analyst in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
