Coastal softball sweeps conference foe

The College of Coastal Georgia softball team continued to rack up Southern States Athletic Conference wins on Friday with a doubleheader sweep of Blue Mountain College.

Freshman Paige Alt picked up the win in Game 1 as the Mariners won 6-0. Olivia Husted provided the offense in Game 1 with a two-run home run. Reilly Oliver added a solo home run in the sixth to cap a three-hit game.

Game 2 was closer with Coastal winning 2-1. Husted and Jesi Garrett drove in Coastal’s runs. Dawn Stewart picked up the win, and Chloe Boulineau earned the save.

TENNIS

The Mariner men and women’s tennis teams split Friday with SCAD-Savannah. The Coastal men, ranked 14th in the nation, defeated 20th-ranked SCAD 6-3. Coastal was strong in the singles portion of the match, winning five of the six contests. Josh Banks, Kenta Naka, Ben Dolan, Bautista Chiaradia and Adrian Farina won in singles. Coastal’s only doubles point came from the team of Banks and Dolan.

The Mariner women, ranked 25th, fell 9-0 to the third-ranked SCAD women.

Both tennis teams travel to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for a match next Friday.
