Coastal Georgia Women’s Golf Signs Four New Student Athletes

Coastal Georgia women’s golf head coach Nicole Johns has announced the signing of four student-athletes for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The incoming class includes two transfers and two freshmen.

Megan Thompson

Junior

Hometown: Greenville, S.C.

Previous School: Spartanburg Methodist

Competed first two collegiate seasons at Spartanburg Methodist College.

Qualified for the NJCAA National Championships both seasons.

Won the 2017 Region X Fall Championship as a sophomore.

Garnered medalist honors at the 2017 Region X Spring Championships as a freshman.

Attended Eastside High School, advancing to the state tournament all four years.

Named All-Region during senior year at Eastside.

Keista Elder

Sophomore

Hometown: Fort Knox, Ky.

Previous School: Embry-Riddle (Fla.).

Competed in the World Golf Invitational and Eagle Invitational for Embry-Riddle (Fla.).

Had a low-round score of 78 during Round One at the World Golf Invitational (Feb. 4-5, 2018).

Graduated from Elizabethtown High School in Kentucky.

Helped Elizabethtown to Regional Championships in 2015 and 2016.

Qualified for the state tournament as an individual during senior season

Named the 2016 Kentucky PGA Junior Tour Player of the Year for the 16-18 Girls Division.

Attend high school in Mississippi during sophomore year, helping her team to the MHSAA State Championship while earning All-State and placing fourth at the state tournament.

Attended high school in Michigan as a freshman, finishing 15th at regionals and earning Scholar-Athlete honors.

Autumn Brown

Freshman

Hometown: Newnan, Ga.

Previous School: East Coweta HS

Saw much success on the links for East Coweta, helping the team qualify for three state tournaments during sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

Part of the regional championship squad as a freshman and as a sophomore.

Finished third at regionals as a junior.

Low medalist at the 2018 Area 2-7A golf championships, leading East Coweta to the team title.

Low medalist for the 2017 season

Two-time Mike Fitzpatrick Ford Player of the Month honoree (April 2018 and May 2017).

Placed second in the Atlanta Junior Golf – MAADA Tour at Whitewater Creek Country Club.

Graduated with honors from East Coweta.

Presley Smith

Freshman

Hometown: Metter, Ga.

Previous School: Metter HS

Part of the Metter High School team that won the Region 3-2A Tournament in 2016

Earned low medalist honors at the 2016 Region 3-2A Tournament

Competed at the state tournament during freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons.

Low medalist at Metter in 2016 and co-low medalist in 2015.

Honored with multiple academic awards including Scholar-Athlete and the 2016 Academic Award.

Recognized with a Georgia Certificate of Merit for Star Honor Roll throughout high school career.

Active in the FBLA, serving as president of the local chapter and vice president for the region.
