The College of Coastal Georgia’s Camden Center is looking to help as many area residents as possible further their career and earn a college diploma, be it an associate’s degree, a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or a specific certification.

To reach that goal, the college is teaming up with Brenau College at Kings Bay, Coastal Pines Technical College and Valdosta State University at Kings Bay for a combined College Fair next week.

“This is the first time we have ever hosted a college fair with all of these schools,” said Jimia Nightingale, student services manager at the college’s Camden Center. “We are hoping for as many people as we can get. By hosting this event with these others schools, we will be able to provide information to a very wide audience.”

Information from each college will be available, including information about how to earn a degree and possibly begin a new career, she said.

Following the check-in portion of the fair, the director of the Navy College office at Kings Bay, Greg White, will discuss points to consider when selecting a college. The objective will be to help individuals make well-educated decisions on post-secondary education, Nightingale said.

“It’s important to have the right tools when making these big decisions,” she said.

Also on hand will be a representative from the Federal Student Loan department, who will provide guidance to potential students about their options with paying for school, Nightingale said.

Students interested in the student aid workshop should bring their recent tax return and personal identification.

Students in the College of Coastal Georgia’s accredited Culinary Arts program of the School of Business and Public Affairs will be on hand to provide refreshments.

The March 19 college fair will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a check-in, followed by the 6 p.m. program with White in the auditorium of the Camden Center.

The Camden Center is located at 8001 Lakes Boulevard in Kingsland.
