Brunswick, GA –The College of Coastal Georgia has again ranked highly among the best online bachelor’s degree programs in the country. According to a new list compiled by U.S. News and World Report and released in its 2017 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs rankings on January 10, 2017, CCGA was named one of the Top 10 low-cost online baccalaureate programs for out-of-state students.

Of that list, the College placed second among 133 ranked public schools in the 2017 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs survey — ahead of Georgia Southern University and Georgia College & State University.

The survey factored in out-of-state cost per credit, credits needed to graduate, and out-of-state total program cost. The average total cost among the top 10 online bachelor’s programs that charge the least is $23,436 for 2016-2017. That equates to approximately $200 per credit, assuming 120 credits are needed to graduate.

At CCGA, that figure is $136 per credit, requiring 120 credits to graduate for a total program cost of $16,320.

“This designation recognizes the importance of meeting students where they are but also acknowledges the need to expand the learning process beyond the traditional classroom setting,” said Dr. Tracy Pellett, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at the College of Coastal Georgia.

“By reducing the cost of going to college through our many cost-saving initiatives, we have made seeking a post-secondary degree affordable to students both within and outside of our region, but we have also opened viable pathways for students who can’t attend our college physically,” Dr. Pellett continued.

CCGA President Greg Aloia reflected on how this distinction underscores the College’s efforts to make access to a higher education attainable for everyone.

“Not only does this new ranking by the U.S. News and World Report affirm our course offerings are accessible to all of our students and throughout the region, it underlines the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated team of faculty, staff and foundation members who are working to help our students be successful,” said President Greg Aloia.

This is the second time CCGA has been recognized for a distinction by the U.S. News and World Report. In September, the College was named one of the Best Regional Public Colleges in the South, ranking seventh among public state and regional colleges in 12 southern states.

The following month, CCGA was listed as one of the Best Online Colleges in Georgia by OnlineColleges.com. The College placed fifth out of more than 50 four-year colleges and universities in Georgia for its online bachelor’s degrees and programs.
