The College of Coastal Georgia Athletics Department celebrated the 2017-18 campaign on Sunday night as the department held its year-end athletics awards reception at the Southeast Georgia Conference Center.

Student-athletics, coaches, athletics staff, and invited guests recognized the accomplishments and achievements of the Mariners this season. Recipients were announced for Student-Athletes of the Year, the Sports Medicine Anchor Award, and individual team awards.

In the seventh year of presentation, the Student-Athletes of the Year honor was presented to the department’s top men’s and women’s student-athletes. Each head coach nominates on student-athlete, and the athletic staff votes on award winners. The awards are based on the department’s SAILS acronym, which represented Scholarship, Athleticism, Integrity, Leadership and Sportsmanship.

The Sports Medicine Anchor Award was presented to a senior who has overcome a significant injury during his or her career at Coastal Georgia to become a key contributor to their respective team. This is the second year in which this award is being given.

For the team awards, each head coach selected a student-athlete to receive either a MVP or a Mariner Award. Additionally, the coaches recognized the letterwinners for the year.
