CCGA goes R.E.D. for Veterans Day, Fridays

While red may be most associated with Valentine’s Day, it also has special significance this Friday (Veteran’s Day) at the College of Coastal Georgia and for the brave servicemen and servicewomen who have put their lives on the line defending America.

This Veteran’s Day will serve as the kickoff for the College of Coastal Georgia’s R.E.D. (Remember Everyone Deployed) Fridays initiative. The College is encouraging students, faculty and staff to join the nationwide movement of wearing the color red every Friday.

Wearing red on Fridays is a way to show solidarity and respect for the service members, families, and veterans who continue to defend our freedom.

In addition to the R.E.D. Fridays initiative, the College of Coastal Georgia will be hosting a Veterans Day ceremony at 1 p.m. in front of the Joe Wilkinson Yardarm on the Brunswick campus. During a brief ceremony, Victoria Kemmerzell, VALOR President, and Mr. Carl Hartman, veteran of the U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy, will speak.

There will be a R.E.D. Fridays information table from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Campus Center Lobby, where buttons will be available. Veterans and active duty personnel are also invited to enjoy a free lunch at the Mariner’s Galley, thanks to Chartwells.

The Camden Center will hold its Veterans Day observance at 10 a.m. Friday, November 11, at the Camden Campus Flag Mast. The Marine Corps Security Force Battalion will display one of their BearCats along with performing Colors and a moment of silence.
