Sept. 25: Final Event of the College of Coastal Georgia Foundation’s 2019 Distinguished Speakers Series to Feature Local Leaders

The College of Coastal Georgia Foundation’s 2019 Distinguished Speakers Series has explored how a city like Brunswick can be revitalized by the power of a big idea and united passion of a community. In this final event of the series, the Foundation will be hosting a conversation with a panel of local stakeholders as well as an expert on reviving downtown districts.

On Wednesday, Sept. 25, panelists will zero in on what’s happening in downtown Brunswick and share their views of the city’s biggest challenges and opportunities. Participating panelists will be Jeff Clark, outreach director of Safe Harbor’s Street Beat; Tres Hamilton, CEO of Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority; Matthew Hill, executive director of the Downtown Development Authority; Michael Kaufman, managing member of Kaufman Development Group; Josh Rogers, president and CEO of NewTown Macon; and Maggie Wilkes, owner of Maggie Mae’s restaurant. The discussion will be moderated by former Atlanta Journal-Constitution Managing Editor Bert Roughton.

“Through the first two installments we heard from a lot of people who really wanted the conversation to focus more deeply on Brunswick. So, for the finale, that’s exactly what we’re going to do,” said Roughton. “We’ll have folks with deep experience with Brunswick and big dreams for its future. This is exactly the kind of important, relevant, and local conversation the College is eager to foster in its hometown.”
