Alumnus Brad Holloway Lauds Coastal Georgia’s Academic Support and Encouragement

Brunswick, GA – Three new faculty members have joined the full-time teaching staff of the College of Coastal Georgia for the new academic year.

Cynthia J. Atwood, Lecturer of Criminal Justice     
Prior to joining the faculty, Atwood served as Assistant Director, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). As a career member of the Senior Executive Service, she has served as assistant director of four FLETC directorates: Centralized Training Management, Field Training, Administration and Training. Her law enforcement and teaching experience span 30 years and include serving as a special agent in the Office of Investigations, U.S. Department of Agriculture; senior special agent, Office of Investigations, U.S. General Services Administration; senior instructor, FLETC; and adjunct faculty and senior special agent for the Inspector General Criminal Investigations Faculty, FLETC. Atwood graduated with a B.S. in Police Administration from Eastern Kentucky University and earned her M.S. in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University. Atwood was the inaugural FLETC loaned executive to the College during 2008-2009, serving as Assistant Vice President, Planning and Risk Management, and as the College coordinator and committee liaison to the steering committee for the strategic master plan published in May 2009, 2020 Vision.

Dr. Courtenay G. Miller, Assistant Professor of Education 
With 13 years of teaching experience in Ohio, Dr. Miller served as former chair of the Mathematics Department and a mathematics instructor at Great Oaks Institute of Technology CDC in Sharonville and mathematics instructor for the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash as well as Hocking College in Nelsonville. She earned her B.A. and M.A. in Secondary Mathematics and Education at the University of Kentucky and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics Education at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Matthew Taylor Rhodes, Assistant Professor of Economics       
Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Rhodes taught introductory macroeconomics, labor economics and sports economics at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. He earned his B.A. degrees in Economics and Political Science at Pennsylvania State University, an M.A. in Applied Economics at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and an M.A. in Economics at the University of Virginia. His Ph.D. in Economics from UNC Greensboro included an active research agenda in applied microeconomics with an emphasis on examining regional public policies on growth, the environment, crime and health.
