For more than a century, the GFWC Brunswick Woman’s Club has worked to strengthen the community through volunteer service and fundraising for local initiatives in the arts, education, the environment and more.
Continuing that mission, the club recently presented a $1,000 check to Dr. Lydia Watkins, dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the College of Coastal Georgia. The donation supports the club’s longstanding nursing scholarship, established in 1967, which assists nontraditional nursing students from Glynn, McIntosh, Camden, Brantley and Wayne counties.
After the presentation, members of the club toured the Miriam and Hugh Nunnally Nursing and Health Sciences Building, where they saw renderings and floor plans of the facility’s current expansion project. They also viewed the program’s new Anatomage Table, an interactive, touch-sensitive table that provides 3D visualizations for anatomy and medical education. Users can virtually dissect full-scale images of human subjects and remove layers to reveal bones, muscles, veins, and more.
