Dependents
Survivor and eligible dependent transfer students should complete (VA-Form 22-5495) request for change of program or place of training survivors and dependents’ education assistance.
Notes:
It takes approximately 30-60 days for the Veterans Administration to process an application. Payments are usually received within 6-10 weeks.
Payments are issued based on the type of education benefits you are receiving and the number of enrolled hours and program of study.
Plan to Pay for your tuition and fees (not covered by your VA Educations benefits) by the payment deadline.

The Office of Financial Aid must be notified that you have applied for VA educational benefits since it is possible that receipt of VA funds could affect federal guaranteed loans and grants.

Monitor your curriculum with your advisor. Classes not pertaining to your degree will not be paid for by VA.
Verify your attendance on the last day of each month if you are Chapter 30, 1606 or 1607. Payment will not be generated for you by VA unless this takes place.
Withdrawing from a class: If you withdraw from a class during the semester, you must notify the VA certifying official.
Work Study
The work-study program allows you to perform work for VA in return for an hourly wage. You may perform outreach services under the supervision of a VA employee, prepare and process VA paperwork, or work in the Veterans’ Lounges on the Brunswick or Camden campuses.
You must train at the three-quarter or full-time rate. The maximum number of hours you may work is 25 times the number of weeks in your enrollment period. Payments will be at the Federal minimum wage or your State minimum wage, whichever is greater. The College has two veterans’ lounges available for students to utilize for quiet studying options and to meet other military students. One is located on the Brunswick Campus – the other at the Camden Center.
The lounge at the Camden Center is located behind the Dockside Deli. The lounge on the Brunswick Campus is located in the Student Activities Center.
VALOR (Veterans Academic Learning Opportunities & Resources) is a student organization that provides support to armed forces veterans, active military, or retired military persons in their transition into the college experience.
VALOR meetings are also open to military family members, faculty, staff, and any interested student, regardless if they are military or not. The meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. in the Veteran’s Lounge on the Brunswick Campus.

Academic Tutoring
The Academic Tutoring and Instruction Center provides academic support to all Coastal Georgia students. Located in the Correll Center in Brunswick and the Camden Center,the ATTICoffers something for everyone. In an effort to help students evaluate their academic strengths and weaknesses and succeed in college, the ATTIC provides free tutoring services.
Counseling and Disability Services
The Office of Counseling Servicesoffers individual counseling with a focus on helping students eliminate barriers to academic success. Students seeking personal counseling must be enrolled for four or more hours and must be currently attending class at the time counseling is sought. Students requiring or requesting long-term or intensive therapy will be referred to off-campus providers and support groups as appropriate.
