College Joins Psychology Honor Society

The College of Coastal Georgia is now a member of Psi Chi, The International Honor Society in Psychology. The College’s Psi Chi Chapter was installed on Dec. 3, and inducted its first chapter members—19 students and six faculty.

Psi Chi was founded in 1929 during the Ninth International Congress of Psychology held at Yale University. Its purpose is to encourage, stimulate, maintain excellence in scholarship and to advance the science of psychology. Psi Chi has grown into one of the largest and most successful honor societies in the world with over 1,165 chapters located at college and university campuses. The organization confers several research awards, sponsors diverse programs at regional and national psychological association conventions, and publishes the Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research.
