Brunswick, GA – Coastal Georgia seniors Johnathen Evans and Joseph Bailey tied for first place internationally for the overall game-to-date score in McGraw-Hill’s GLO-BUS strategic management simulation for the week of November 10-16, 2014.
“Considering this is probably the most utilized business simulation in the world with thousands of teams, including numerous MBA programs, their Global Top 100 ranking is an incredible achievement!” Dr. George Dupuy, Professor of Management, School of Business and Public Affairs, said.
Dr. Dupuy teaches the capstone class for the B.B.A. degree, MGMT 4200: Strategic Management, which includes student team participation in the simulation. Student and corporate teams compete in running a global manufacturer and retailer. Four measures are used in compiling team positions: current year overall score, earnings per share, return on average equity, and stock price. Standings are computed weekly; the week of November 10-16 marked the final week for the Evans-Bailey team in their semester-long participation.
According to the GLO-BUS administrative team, Bailey and Evans, identified as the co-managers of Alure (simulated Company A), ranked in the Global Top 100 in three criteria.The notification praised the students’ performance and the positive reflection on the caliber of instruction the students are receiving in the course.
“This achievement also speaks to the hard work of all the staff, faculty and students in building a demanding and relevant program in business,” said Dr. Skip Mounts, Dean of the School of Business and Public Affairs. “The larger community should be proud of all these efforts.”
