College to Host Community 9/11 Day of Remembrance

Brunswick, GA – Dr. Ronald Reigner, Associate Professor of Reading and Language Arts, School of Education and Teacher Preparation, and Marihelen Newman, Title I Parent Coordinator, Glynn County School System, have organized a special interactive and entertaining event for parents of children eligible for local pre-k, kindergarten and first grade programs: 1, 2, 3, Read with Me. The free event for parents and their children will be held Saturday, September 27, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Risley Annex, 2900 Albany Street.

According to Dr. Reigner, additional workshop leaders include Dr. Paulette Harris, Director of the Georgia Regents University Literacy Center, as well as Early Childhood/Special Education senior students from the College of Coastal Georgia. Presentations will include Dr. Harris’ talk, “Autism, ADHA, or ADD? I STILL Want You to Read with Me” anda puppet show, “A Potpourri of Phonics Puppets.”

The Marshes of Glynn Libraries and the Glynn County Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy will be among the parent-friendly agencies represented at the forum, Dr. Reigner says.

Dr. Reigner holds the Community-Supported Professorship in Early Childhood Reading and Language Arts at the College of Coastal Georgia. The professorship is made possible by restricted gifts to the College Foundation.
