College offers host of locally-based ecology study opportunities

Brunswick, GA – The Complete College Georgia initiative calls for state colleges, universities and technical schools to collaborate in creative ways to make sure the Georgia workforce has the deep pool of talented, trained graduates by 2020 that will be necessary for global competiveness in the business world and economic development across the state. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last week by College of Coastal Georgia President Greg Aloia and East Georgia State College President Bob Boehmer is an example of that creative collaboration within the University System of Georgia.

The MOU established a Teacher Education Dual Degree program in which undergraduate students receiving an A.A. degree in Teacher Education at East Georgia State College can apply for transfer directly to Coastal Georgia’s B.S. programs in Early Childhood/Special Education or Middle Grades Education in the School of Education and Teacher Preparation.

“This MOU between EGSC and CCGA will assist students with a passion for teaching from Swainsboro, Emanuel County, and other nearby counties to find a direct pathway to their chosen profession,” Dr. Aloia said. “The creative talents of our staff and faculty have established a successful pipeline for students to become teachers. We are all very excited about this initiative. Everyone wins when institutions of higher education collaborate to find creative solutions.”
