The College of Coastal Georgia’s Nursing programs are some of the best in the state and even in the country. The accolades for the program continue to pour in. Recently, the College’s nursing program ranked second in Georgia for the “2018 Top Ranked Nursing Schools” by RegisteredNursing.org

RegisteredNursing.org assessed the performance of students in nursing programs across the country on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The exam is used by all state boards of nursing in the United States to measure student competency.

Over the years the College’s nursing program has ranked as one of the finest in the country, with impressive passing rates. The program was ranked first by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing among similar programs nationwide in 2016 and 2015, has a 100 percent pass rate among Associate of Science in Nursing graduates on professional licensure exams among 2016 and 2017 graduates, and 100 percent pass rate among Bachelor of Science in Nursing grads in four out of the last five graduating classes.

“We have been recognized with many regional and national rankings over the years. We continue to be proud of the quality education we provide to prepare outstanding nurses,” said Dr. Patty Kraft, dean of Education, Health Sciences, and Nursing. “The faculty, staff, and students are extremely hardworking and this is evident in the success of the students’ licensure exams. The community donors and partnerships are an integral part of our success and ability to provide creative and innovative curriculum.”

The College of Coastal Georgia offers multiple educational pathways in nursing and health sciences. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four-year pre-licensure degree program that prepares a nurse generalist for practice and leadership in the role of a professional nurse. The RN to BSN program is for licensed nurses who want something more, whether it is progress in a current work environment, a move into a different career opportunity, or preparation for graduate study. The ASN program equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care to clients in a variety of settings.

In addition to the College’s nursing programs, Coastal Georgia offers degrees in radiology, health promotion, and exercise science.

The curriculum at the College includes community health-related education, service-learning courses, and more to help students go beyond classroom-based learning and find success in their chosen field.
