Sharing Staff Resources Seen as a Win-Win within University System of Georgia

Brunswick, GA – College presidents Dr. Greg Aloia and Dr. Virginia Carson recognized an opportunity to better share resources in order to help control costs: a collaboration between Coastal Georgia and South Georgia State College to recruit and hire a shared internal auditor familiar with state and USG systems.

Charles A. Fell, a certified internal auditor with a master’s in information systems audit and control, has been tapped to serve as Director of Internal Audit for both colleges, commuting between their respective locations. He will report directly to the two college presidents and the USG Chief Audit Officer when he begins his new duties on May 1.

Fell is familiar with USG expectations and the need for internal audit responsiveness. In his previous position as Senior Auditor for the USG Board of Regents, he conducted complex financial, information technology, operational and compliance audits and reviews. In addition to his experience as an internal auditor, he has also served as business manager for a construction firm, as a corporate accountant and financial analyst for AGL Resources, Inc., and as an internal auditor and consolidating accountant for Southern Company Services.
