Covid-19 Update:

Hey Mariner family, watch this for some encouragement from our SGA President, Kelsey Rios!

President Update:

Good afternoon, Mariners! I hope you are finding ways to thrive and that you are continuing to take good care of yourselves. Thank you for taking a few minutes to read through the following updates and good news items.

May Commencement

On March 18, I shared my disappointment with you given the fact that our traditional Spring Commencement exercises would not take place in the face-to-face format that we are accustomed. As that decision was made, we were already considering alternative ways to celebrate our graduates and to honor one of the most meaningful and cherished traditions of the College. I am pleased to announce that we will hold a virtual commencement on Saturday, May 23, at 1:00 p.m. through YouTube and Facebook. Graduates will also be invited to participate in our ceremony scheduled for December 13, 2020. Provost Evans will follow up with more details on our plans (and information we need from graduates!) for the virtual ceremony on May 23. Please mark your calendars and invite your families, friends, and fans!

Summer Tuition and Fees

As I shared previously, we will deliver our summer terms fully online this year, with the intention of resuming face-to-face operations for the Fall term. I am happy to share some good news relative to tuition and fees for this summer -- changes that could result in up to $500 in savings, according to the following details:

  • Tuition for all College of Coastal Georgia classes is $106.80 per credit hour, as opposed to the $115/credit hour rate previously shared. Courses taken through e-Core will remain at $159/credit hour.

  • We are significantly reducing the number of fees charged for summer. Fees will be limited to the “Institutional Fee” and the “Technology Fee.” The following fees will be completely waived: Athletic, Student Activity, Recreation and Intramural, Campus Center, and Access Card.
  • Other fees – like course fees, lab fees, and parking fees – are also waived for the summer.
  • For students living on campus, regular housing and dining rates will apply.

Students who previously registered for classes this summer have already been charged tuition and fees based on the former fee structure. By May 1, corrections will be made on your account to reflect these new tuition and fee levels. For students who register after today, tuition and fees may not appear on your account until May 1. In the meantime, you can refer to the attached chart to calculate your tuition and fee amounts. If you have any questions, please email or call 912-279-5746 for assistance. We will respond as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience as we take time to provide individual care and attention to each email and call. You matter…every student, every time!

Fall Tuition and Fees

I also have positive news to share about tuition and fees for Fall 2020 – tuition and fees will remain the same as they were for the 2019-2020 academic year. Plus, our own College of Coastal Georgia online classes will be offered to all students at in-state tuition rates in the Fall. Our commitment to providing a high-quality, affordable, and accessible education remains strong!

CARES Act Funding

In addition to the good news about tuition and fees, you may have heard about the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The College will receive funds from the U.S. Department of Education to disburse to students experiencing hardships as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. We will provide more information on the details of the plan in the near future.

Please continue to closely monitor your email address and refer to Coastal Georgia Coronavirus website for up-to-date information about campus services, classes and ongoing developments. If you have questions or concerns but don’t know where to direct those, please reach out through We are here for you!

Please take care, support one another, and be well!
