International Financial Aid
The College of Coastal Georgia anticipates that a fairly small and highly-qualified group of international students will be offered financial aid. Because federal regulations severely limit the types of financial assistance available to international students, Coastal Georgia must draw on limited institutional resources (tuition waivers) when aiding international students.

Applying for Financial Aid
Tuition ClassificationThe initial determination of tuition classification is based on the student's responses on the admissions application. Students may be classified as a non-resident if they are currently attending or have attended high school or a postsecondary school outside of the state of Georgia; or if they have a driver's license, vehicle registration, or voter registration in a state other than Georgia; or if they have recently filed state income taxes in a state other than Georgia; or if they are the dependent of a parent or legal guardian who pays taxes in a state other than Georgia. To be classified as a Georgia resident, a student or his/her parent or legal guardian must have resided in the state of Georgia for at least 12 months before the start of classes.
Non-U.S. Citizens are initially classified as out-of-state residents. A Permanent Resident student whose Permanent Resident card is at least 12 months old may be classified as a Georgia resident if they can provide documentation showing that they have resided in the state of Georgia for at least 12 months before the start of classes. Students attending under F or J visas are not classified as Georgia residents but may be eligible for a waiver of out-of-state tuition.
International Presidential WaiverThe Office of International Education offers the International Presidential Waiver (IPW) to qualified international students on an F-1 student visa. The IPW is an out-of-state tuition waiver available to a limited number of international students who have been accepted to CCGA or are presently attending the College. This scholarship waives the total cost of out-of-state tuition or a portion of the out-of-state tuition.
To apply for financial assistance at the College of Coastal Georgia, the student needs to complete the following steps to be eligible for an international presidential tuition waiver:
- Submit the International Student Financial Guarantee Form
- Provide the amount to be certified (the difference between the total cost of attendance [see chart above] and aid awarded, if any; e.g., Athletic Financial Aid)
- Submit official bank statements/supporting documents (translated into English, if needed)
- Submit the I-20 Issuance Form
- Complete an IPW Application
- Review the IPW Description and Guidelines
- Submit an IPW Recommendation Form
Academic Presidential WaiverStudents who have demonstrated academic success in high school and have academic credentials (Grade Point Average and SAT or ACT scores) that are comparable to the top 25 percent of our previous fall incoming class might qualify for an academic presidential out-of-state tuition waiver.
Students must be accepted to the College of Coastal Georgia and apply for the waiver upon acceptance. Students are encouraged to apply immediately following acceptance. Waivers are awarded based upon availability. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid to learn more about academic presidential waiver application requirements - 912.279.5722; firstname.lastname@example.org
Athletic Presidential WaiverStudents selected to participate in the intercollegiate athletics program and who have demonstrated the potential to succeed within a particular program of study may be eligible for an academic presidential waiver. All student-athletes admitted to the College of Coastal Georgia must meet the Univerisy System of Georgia's admissions requirements. The Athletics Department will select recipients of athletic presidential waivers. For more information, please contact the Athletics Department.
Athletic Financial AidInternational student-athletes will be considered for athletic financial aid by completing a Foundation Scholarship Application. Only one scholarship application is needed to apply for all of the Foundation scholarships. Foundation scholarships are awarded based on an applicant's scholarship score (a combination of grade point average and scholarship essay score) along with any other specific scholarship requirements. Preference is given to students who apply before the priority deadline.
