Employment

On-Campus

International students are an integral part of the College of Coastal Georgia. Those students who hold an F-1 visa are eligible for on-campus employment. For off-campus employment, F-1 visa students have a few options, Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT). On-campus employment is limited to 20 hours per week during the academic year, and limited to full-time during summer. A social security number is required to complete the necessary Human Resources paperwork before starting any employment on campus.

Off-Campus

In general, F-1 students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) for two fall or spring semesters before becoming eligible for off-campus employment. The two types of off-campus employment are:

Curricular Practical Training (CPT)

Employment that is off campus and directly related to the degree program; e.g. practicum, internships etc. The type of employment where you will be paid for working off campus and tied to a required class for academic credit toward degree completion. You can learn more about CPT here:

Employment that takes place after you graduate and is for one year - not to exceed 14 months after graduation and has fees associated with it. You can learn more about OPT here:
