Honors Students have the opportunity to take Honors sections of introductory courses. Taught by the College's best faculty, these courses are smaller, more focused on active learning, and give students more opportunities to learn from each other and more contact with professors.

Introductory Courses include:

  • English Composition 1
  • English Composition 2
  • American Literature
  • Chemistry of the Oceans
  • U.S. History 1
  • U.S. History 2
  • Global Issues
  • Probability and Statistics
  • American Government
  • Introduction to Philosophy
  • Introduction to Psychology

Honors Students will also be able to take an Honors Junior Seminar, and will get the opportunity to take an Honors Capstone course, where they can apply all their cross-disciplinary knowledge and experiences to their work in their major. This capstone may take the form of an internship or practical experience, or may embody a work of creative expression or research.

To graduate from the Honors Program, students need to complete 12 credits of Honors courses as well as an Honors Capstone. They also need to maintain a 3.0 GPA.
