Core Curriculum Procedural Flow
Assessment activities related to core curriculum courses are carried out at the department/program level while the Committee on Academic Assessment manages, documents and reports on these assessment activities. General education outcomes are statements that define the knowledge, skills, and dispositions acquired by students who satisfy the prescribed general education requirements of a particular institution within higher education.

Assessment Summaries
Assessment activities related to General Education core courses are carried out at the department/program level while the Committee on Academic Assessment of the Faculty Senate manages, documents and reports on these assessment activities. If a General Education course has student learning outcomes in multiple areas, the course can be assessed in the academic year of the department’s choosing; however, all courses must be assessed at least once within the three-year cycle to ensure optimum continuous quality improvement. Through a three-phase assessment process, the department responsible for assessing a particular General Education course(s) is responsible for:

  1. Developing and validating an assessment tool(s);
  2. Documenting and reporting the analysis and results after application of the tool; and
  3. Making modifications to the course, documenting these modifications and reporting the modifications to the Committee on Academic Assessment, School Dean, and department program faculty.
