Department of Education and Teacher Preparation

Interim Chair's Welcome

We make a difference! The Department of Education and Teacher Preparation offers two baccalaureate degree programs in teacher education – Early Childhood and Special Education and Middle Grades Education. Additionally, the Department offers secondary education certification tracks for students majoring in Biology and Mathematics. Through a clinical model of practice, the departmental faculty engage in teacher preparation with a focus on content knowledge expertise, effective teaching strategies, and classroom management. Our faculty are confident that, upon graduation, candidates are poised to meet the challenges of contemporary classrooms. All teacher candidates complete professional education coursework and content-specific coursework alongside structured, supervised field experience in the schools.

We appreciate your interest and invite you to explore the many opportunities available in the Department of Education & Teacher Preparation. Should you have any questions or wish to speak with an adviser, please call 912.279.5720, or email chughes@ccga.edu.
