Hospitality, Resort, and Tourism Concentration
Tourism is the largest industry in Glynn County and the second largest industry in Georgia so it is only natural that we offer a concentration in Hospitality, Resort, and Tourism (HRT).
The HRT concentration has required courses in Resort Management, Tourism, and Event Planning as well as Introduction to Hospitality and Hotel Management. Like all of the students in the School of Business and Public Management, HRT students complete an internship before graduating. The Golden Isles of Georgia is ideally suited for internships in this field as there is a wide range of opportunities in many areas of tourism, resort management and hospitality. Students have completed this requirement at the prestigious Sea Island Resort, the King and Prince Hotel and Golf Resort, and Jekyll Island to name a few of the prospects that Glynn County offers. Numerous electives in multiple areas complete the concentration while allowing a student to match their program to their ideals for their future career. This concentration leads to career paths in hotels, resorts, and convention centers, as well as other tourism-based businesses. One of the most attractive aspects of this degree is the ability to travel worldwide and the opportunity to work with international companies.
Students should consider pairing this concentration with an Associate Degree in Hospitality, which The College also offers. This is an exciting option as it allows a student to receive two degrees in four years ( a career Associate’s in Hospitality plus the BBA) while taking only 10-12 additional credit hours.
