Petition for Contract Release

The Director of Residence Life and Housing, or his/her designee/committee, will review written requests for exemption within a timely manner. Additional information may be required of some residents. Residents will be notified of decisions regarding requests for contract release in a timely manner.

Individual residents may appeal, via email, the denial of the request for exemption to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management or his/her designee.

Appeals must be emailed to the Office of Residence Life and Housing no later than ten working days after notice has been sent that a request for exemption has been denied.

Appeals will be reviewed in a timely manner at the Office of Residence Life and Housing.

The Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management or his/her designee may consult with other units of the College, including, but not limited to, the Disability Resource Center, and the Office of Financial Aid when appropriate.

The decision of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management or his/her designee will be communicated within a reasonable time from the date that the appeal is reviewed.

The decision of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management or his/her designee will be final.

Your housing contract is binding for the entire academic year, both fall and spring semesters (excluding the spring semester only and summer semester contracts). Please understand that you are legally responsible for the financial fulfillment of this contractual agreement. Request to break this contract is considered only for the following six reasons. It is the student's responsibility to supply all required documentation.
