Seaswells Submissions Guidelines

●Open to all current College of Coastal Georgia students only.

●Submissions must be original & previously unpublished.

●Submissions must include a 25-75 word bio. Bios should be written in third person (ex: “Jane Doe is a sophomore” not “I am a sophomore”) and may include interests, major, previous publications (if any), and anything else you would like to mention.

●Contests submissions considered for publication & accepted 9/1 - 12/1.

●Submissions for publication consideration only accepted 12/2 - 2/14

●Submissions simultaneously considered for online journal High Tide.

●Students may submit up to 5 entries in each category.

●Submissions should be emailed to seaswells@ccga.edu.

●Email subject line should state the contest or category. For example: "Color Photography Contest” or, if submitting after contest deadline, “Color Photography Submission.”

If submitting in more than one category, compose a separate email for each category. For example, separate emails are needed for the Color Photography Contest and the Computer-Enhanced Photography Contest.

●The body of the email must include submission title(s), medium used and size for art, writer/artist name, email address, bio, and contact number.

●We reserve the right to title untitled submissions (specify if you prefer untitled)

●Poetry and prose must be attached as .doc or .docx files.

●Photography and art must be attached as high-quality digital files, at least 1MB/300dpi.

●Artwork must be dropped off at Jones 109, SAC 129, or the Camden Center Office. Please send a separate email from your submission email to set up a drop off meeting time.

●No entry fee, but we recommend you donate to the Glynn Community Crisis Center or America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.

Seaswells Contests Info:

Barr Poetry Contest: Any style & any reasonable topic. 50 lines maximum recommended.

First Place: $100

Second Place: $75

Third Place: $50

Prof. Pick/Staff Selection: $25

Austin/Garner Prose Contest: Short stories, essays, or creative paragraphs. Dramatic, analytical, sci-fi, comedy, satire, or another approach. 1,500 word maximum recommended.

Art Contest— Any style & any reasonable subject. Any medium, including digital, pencil, ink, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, oil, conte, crayon, charcoal, etc. 3-D forms, such a sculpture, allowed, but contest not broken into separate categories. Please identify medium and size with submission of high quality digital files of all artwork, 1 MB/at least 300dpi. Artwork must be dropped off at Jones 109, SAC 129, or the Camden Center Office. Please send a separate email from your submission email to set up a drop off meeting time.

Photography Contests: Any style & any reasonable subject. Must submit high quality digital files, 1 MB/at least 300dpi. No need to submit printed copies. You may enter up to 5 photos in each photography contest for a total of 15 photography entries.
