Community & Partnerships

The School of Education and Teacher Preparation (SETP) is actively involved in school partnerships through the design, delivery, and evaluation of field experiences and clinical practice. The Teacher Education Advisory Board (TEAB), comprised of district administrators, agency professionals, and faculty, facilitates the sharing of expertise, including updates on changes in school expectations and providing opportunities for candidates to participate in professional development activities. Principals, mentors, and candidates in the Early Childhood/Special Education and Middle Grades Education programs are engaged in professional development provided by the school districts.

Teacher education candidates play a significant role in implementing technology in local classrooms, as well as mentoring senior teachers about the use of flipped classrooms, SMART Boards, websites, and video. Early Childhood/Special Education and Middle Grades Education candidates engage extensively in community tutoring and service activities.
