Faculty & Staff:

Due to the threat of severe weather, all classes at the Brunswick campus and Camden Center will shift to online for Tuesday, January 9, and the College will have reduced operations for the day.

Classes and all operations will resume according to normal schedules on Wednesday, January 10. Unless otherwise communicated by your supervisor, employees should telework tomorrow and should not report to campus. To report time for reduced campus operations, please refer to the following:

  • 00TWH-Teleworking Non-Exempt – Bi-weekly employees who teleworked should log hours with time reporting code 00TWH.
  • Non-Closure Emergency Leave (00NHP)  Full-time benefited employees that are not able to telework on Tuesday January 9th due to the reduced on-campus hours, must have their Manager log hours with time reporting code 00NHP on their timesheet for regular scheduled hours on 1/10 only. 
  • Inclement Weather Leave (IWB) will not be utilized for reduced operations.

We will update you through email and postings to the College website if there are any further modifications to classes and/or College operations. Any emergency notifications will be distributed through our Nixle text messaging system, as well.  If you have not already signed up for Nixle, you can text the letters CCGA to 888777 to gain access to these important safety notifications.

Students:

Welcome to the Spring 2024 semester! I hope your first day of classes went very well. The timing is unfortunate, but given the latest forecast for tomorrow, all classes will be shifted online for Tuesday, January 9. Classes will resume according to normal schedules on Wednesday, January 10. Your professors will provide details and instructions for you through email and/or your D2L account. 

Offices such as financial aid, registrar and COMPASS will be available to assist you online through TEAMS, via email or by phone, but our staff will not be available in their offices on campus tomorrow. All Student Life activities are cancelled for tomorrow, and the libraries will be closed.

Please pay attention the following adjustments to other campus services:

HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE  

Housing will remain operational. Residents are asked to pay close attention to their CCGA email, instructions from Housing Staff, and the Nixle Emergency Text Message alerts for instructions in case of an immediate severe weather event.

DINING & FOOD SERVICES

Dining Services has made the following adjustments to food service options on Tuesday (1/9): 

  • Breakfast on Tuesday (1/9)
    • Breakfast will be served on the regular schedule in Mariners Galley from 7am – 10am.
    • Students will be STRONGLY encouraged to use an additional meal swipe to pack a to go container for the Tuesday Lunch and/or Dinner meal. Additional grab and go items will be available. Students who do not have a reusable clamshell container will be provided a disposable option. 
    • Dockside Deli will be open 7:30am -1:00pm.
  • Lunch on Tuesday (1/9)
    • Lunch will be served in Mariners Galley from 11:00am -1:00pm.
    • Students will be STRONGLY encouraged to use an additional meal swipe to pack a to go container for the Tuesday Dinner meal.  Additional grab and go items will be available.  Students who do not have a reusable clamshell container will be provided a disposable option. 
    • Dockside Deli will be open 7:30am -1:00pm.
    • The Food Truck will be closed. 
  • Dinner on Tuesday (1/9)
    • Meals WILL NOT BE SERVED in Mariners Galley or Dockside Deli on Tuesday evening. 
  • At this time, regular dining hours are expected to resume for the Breakfast meal on Wednesday (1/10). 
    • Dockside Deli and the Food Truck will return to normal operations. 

OFFICE OF STUDENT WELLBEING & SUPPORT

  • Counseling Services
    • The Counseling Office will be closed on Tuesday (1/9) and will reopen Wednesday (1/9) at 8am. 
    • Students needing service during the closure are encouraged to contact the Connect@Coastal 24/7 hotline at (912) 280-7800 and press 2. 
  • Student Health Center
    • The Student Health Center will be closed on Tuesday (1/9) and will reopen Wednesday (1/9) at 8am. 
    • Students needing service during the closure are encouraged to visit the Student Health Center webpage for a list of local health care options.  If it is an emergency, dial 911.

STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER

The Helm, The Anchor, & The Rec

    • The Helm, the Anchor, and The Rec will be closed on Tuesday (1/9) and will reopen Wednesday (1/9) at 8am. 

OFFICE OF STUDENT LIFE

All student activities, club meetings, and Week of Welcome activities are cancelled on Tuesday (1/9).  Activities will resume on Wednesday (1/10).
