The College of Coastal Georgia Department of Natural Sciences is excited to host COASTAL SCIENCE SYMPOSIUM 2022 on Friday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. The annual event brings together students, faculty, collaborators, and community members to explore coastal and marine science research and applications to society.

The program features a keynote address by Dr. Mandy Joye, Regents' Professor in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Georgia. Dr. Joye is an expert in biogeochemistry and microbial ecology and works in open ocean and coastal ecosystems. Her work is interdisciplinary, bridging the fields of chemistry, microbiology, and geology.

The symposium also highlights the work of Coastal Georgia students, who will present posters on their research and experiential learning on conservation biology, coastal ecology, environmental science, geology, and more. And we are happy to welcome back our community partners, who will provide educational exhibits and opportunities to get involved in science and conservation on the Georgia coast.

New this year: the Coastal Science Symposium will serve as the finale to Sustainability Week, hosted by ENVS 3200, the Environmental Club, Geology Club, and the Student Government Association. Workshops and presentations are planned throughout the week to promote and inform participants about sustainability.

The symposium is free and open to the public - no registration is necessary.
