The College of Coastal Georgia opened the doors Friday to its second residence hall, Mariner Village. State legislators, Glynn County's community leaders and University System of Georgia officials, who traveled from Atlanta for the event, cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, which took place 14 months after the building's ground breaking.

CCGA, city and county agree to make college degrees more accessible

College of Coastal Georgia agreed on Wednesday to remove a few barriers for city and county employees wishing to return to the classroom and get a college degree. Administrators with the college signed an agreement Wednesday with officials from both the City of Brunswick and Glynn County to be partners going forward in the Leveraging Educational Attainment through Partnerships program, or LEAP.

College of Coastal Georgia is always looking for ways to help community businesses. One of the easiest ways they do this is by educating the local workforce. That could mean providing four-year bachelor's degrees to newly minted high school graduates. It could also mean providing further education to those already in the workforce. One new initiative is aimed at doing the latter. The college has started a new bachelor's degree of applied science with a focus in workforce management. It's something college officials feel could benefit area industry greatly.
