College announces President's List for Fall 2017. All of the students recognized on the President's List earned a grade point average of 4.0 in Fall 2017 while enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.

On Thursday, March 8 in the Southeast Georgia Conference Center at the College of Coastal Georgia, Chantel Dunham of the University of Georgia Libraries will present "Treasures from the UGA Vault: Surprising Artifacts from the Golden Isles and Beyond." This is the second event in the 2018 Distinguished Speaker Series at the College.

To get students excited about the great study abroad opportunities open to them, the College of Coastal Georgia's Office of International Education held a Study Abroad Fair on Feb. 16 at the Campus Center lobby. Interested students stopped by and talked with faculty and staff, who shared their experiences of going abroad.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. CCGA Serves, a College of Coastal Georgia student volunteer organization, worked with Habitat for Humanity for MLK Day of Service. Volunteers, staff and Interim President Meg Amstutz helpled put the final touches on a home rebuilt after Hurricane Irma.

Based on the winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service for the Brunswick area, the College of Coastal Georgia will be closed and all classes canceled on Wed., Jan. 3. The College is tentatively scheduled to reopen Thursday. Please check CCGA.edu for the latest information.

Graduating seniors participate in the annual signing of the sails before graduation in December. Seniors filled in blank spaces on the sails in the College's logo left by peers who graduated earlier this spring.

Belete Muturo, director of TRiO Student Support Services, was surprised with a farewell reception at the Huie-Wilcox Gallery. He gave remarks about his time at the college and thanked everyone for attending to say goodbye. Muturo served as director of the program for over seven years.

College of Coastal Georgia was recently recognized as one of the country's best institutions for veterans. "Military Times" placed CCGA on its list of "Best for Vets" colleges for the third consecutive year. The College ranked No. 5 in Georgia and No. 70 in the nation.

The College of Coastal Georgia's Dr. Jim Fullerton joined judges from all over the country in selecting the best in books for the annual National Outdoor Book Awards. NOBA is known as a prestigious book award program focusing on the outdoor world. The program has awarded books for 20 years and recognizes outstanding writing and publishing. Fullerton, associate professor of Management and Leadership Development, has been a judge for the past 19 years. He and his wife Sara, who previously worked at a children's bookstore and is former elementary school teacher, worked together judging the children's category.

For the fourth consecutive year, the College of Coastal Georgia has achieved record enrollment. The College enrolled 3,663 for Fall 2017, a 3.8 percent increase from the previous fall and a 21.8-percent combined increase during the past three years. The College's record growth coincides with the University System of Georgia's (USG) achievement of an all-time enrollment peak as well.

Today the flags over the College of Coastal Georgia fly at half-mast to honor the lives lost in the senseless shooting that took place at a Sutherland Springs, Texas church on Sunday. Governor Nathan Deal issued an executive order on Monday directing that "the flag of the United States and the flag of the Great State of Georgia be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds" until sunset on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017. The College community joins with citizens across the state and around the nation in remembrance.

The Diversity and Inclusion Office at the College of Coastal Georgia hosted a Color Run on Friday, the first of what is to become a new annual tradition at the College. The Coastal Georgia Color Run was developed as a visual representation of the office's mission to create programs that connect people from diverse backgrounds and communities.

Today, Board of Regents Chairman C. Thomas Hopkins Jr., M.D. and Chancellor Steve Wrigley announced plans to launch a national search for the next president of the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, Georgia. "We owe a big thank you to Interim President Meg Amstutz for her support and commitment to the College of Coastal Georgia and the University System of Georgia," said Hopkins. A campus-based presidential search committee will include thoughtful representation from faculty, staff and students.

Today, the state's largest power company, Georgia Power, presented a check for $25,000 to the College of Coastal Georgia Foundation to fund the Georgia Power STEM Impact Program at the College. The new multi-faceted, broad-based impact program will fund equipment, programing, and facilities for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) instruction.
