Without its students roaming campus, heading to class or lounging in the green spaces between buildings, College of Coastal Georgia's campus is like a tourist spot, said Greg Aloia, the college's president. "It's pretty, but no one's there," he said.

College of Coastal Georgia's athletic programs could be in a new conference after the 2016-17 academic year. The college announced Friday that it has informed the Southern States Athletic Conference of its intention to withdraw from the conference and apply for admission into The Sun Conference. Both conferences are a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The College of Coastal Georgia opened the doors Friday to its second residence hall, Mariner Village. State legislators, Glynn County's community leaders and University System of Georgia officials, who traveled from Atlanta for the event, cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, which took place 14 months after the building's ground breaking.

College of Coastal Georgia agreed on Wednesday to remove a few barriers for city and county employees wishing to return to the classroom and get a college degree. Administrators with the college signed an agreement Wednesday with officials from both the City of Brunswick and Glynn County to be partners going forward in the Leveraging Educational Attainment through Partnerships program, or LEAP.
