The 5th Annual CHEM 1100 Cook-Off for America's Second Harvest featured culinary using ingredients from the food bank warehouse. Attendees donated $1 to try the food and vote for their favorite. The winner of the contest was Robert Rome whose LOCO COCO pot de creme earned him first place.

College of Coastal Georgia culinary students will host the 5th Annual Cook-Off to benefit America's Second Harvest Food Bank. The cooking contest will be held Wednesday, June 27, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the College's Campus Center and is open to the public.

College of Coastal Georgia senior Brittany Hunter didn't know what she wanted to do as a career until she started as a student worker in the Business Office. She entered into the world of accounting and decided that would be her major, which was coincidentally her father's dream job.

Matthew Hulme earned 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American honors for singles. He is the first Mariner in the program history to achieve ITA All-American status.

One of the main resources at the College of Coastal Georgia designed to help students reach their full potential is the Academic Tutoring and Instruction Center, known as "The ATTIC." The ATTIC provides academic support to all students through in-person tutoring, free online tutoring, and placing supplemental instructors in difficult classes with a high risk for withdrawal or grades of D or F. High-performing students work as tutors and supplemental instructors, helping their peers understand coursework. It is these students, in particular supplemental instructors, who continue to be recognized for their academic accomplishments and contributions to the College.

To introduce high school students and their parents and guardians to the Dual Enrollment program (formerly Move On When Ready), the College of Coastal Georgia is hosting an information night on Wednesday, May 30 at 6 p.m. Check in will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Campus Center on the College's Brunswick campus.

For Willie C. Vaughn IV, the Dual Enrollment program offered at the College of Coastal Georgia gave him the different and unique learning experience he needed. The 18-year-old Vaughn is a senior at Wayne County High School and is spending his senior year as a dual enrollment student at the College.

By the time Max Oliver finished his sophomore year at Wayne County High School, he had completed his upper level classes. He wanted something more and was looking for a challenge. Oliver,18, signed up to participate in the Dual Enrollment program (formerly Move On When Ready) at the College of Coastal Georgia and has been taking classes at the College since his junior year in high school. Through the Dual Enrollment Program, Oliver has earned both college credit and credit towards his high school graduation in May.

The Board of Regents named Dr. Michelle Johnston president of the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick. Johnston will begin her new position this summer once a start date is confirmed.

A trio of Coastal Georgia men's golfers were named NAIA PING All-South Region on Thursday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Lauri Hacklin, Mark David Johnson and Kyle Kidd were among the 15 All-Region selections for the South.

Students in Assistant Professor of Public Management Heather Farley's course, Managing State and Local Government, recently presented their semester-long service-learning projects to representatives of the Coastal Regional Commission of Georgia, Brunswick Downtown Development Authority, and Coastal Pines Technical College. The projects explored economic plans to help generate revenue for the City of Brunswick as well as Glynn and McIntosh Counties.

The 7th Annual Student Affairs Leadership Awards ceremony celebrated student success at the College of Coastal Georgia. Students were recognized by the Office of Student Affairs for their leadership and four students were inducted into the Student Hall of Fame.
