Students at CCGA

At CCGA, our students receive a strong academic science foundation to prepare them for the workforce in the sciences, or for professional school. We strive to assist our students as they develop their academic career. However, CCGA is not just about academic rigor. We also want our students to be involved on campus and to participate in activities they enjoy. On this page you will find resources for current students with regards to both the academic and social sides of being a science major.

Academic Advising

All students are encouraged to see an academic advisor each semester to make certain they are on track for graduation. To make an appointment with your advisor, please email them to make an appoint. Contact information can be found here. Many advisors can also be contacted using Cranium Cafe. For more information on required courses, please click on your major and concentration below:

If you do not know or do not have an advisor, please contact the department coordinator, Maureen Wagner. If you are undecided or in your first year, please see the Advising center.

    Clubs at CCGA

At CCGA, we have several science-related clubs. Clubs are open to any student and are not limited to science majors.

    Our clubs include:

Astronomy Club - The astronomy club includes any student who is fascinated by the space and loves to star-gaze.

Biology Club - Biology club is comprised mostly of Biology majors on the Coastal Ecology or Pre-professional track. There are a few chemistry majors as well. The Biology club performs community service and brings in guest speakers to talk about science professions and also educates the community about ecological issues.

Environmental Club - The Environmental Club is a fairly new club on campus that concentrates on conservation efforts. They often work in close collaboration with the biology club, leading conservation efforts on campus and in the community.

Geology Club - Calling all rock lovers! Geology club is for those students who love rocks of all kinds: shiny, dull, hard soft. The Geology club concentrates on studying the local geological environment. They love going out in the field to collect samples and study them!
