Orientation

At the College of Coastal Georgia, we want to make sure you begin your journey on the right foot. To do this, we have designed custom orientation programs for each student type. We hope you are ready to begin your experience as a new Mariner with our in-person orientation experience!

New Freshmen

This *required* session is designed specifically for students who have just graduated from high school in spring or summer of 2023. At orientation, you will meet your fellow new Mariners, learn about opportunities to get involved on campus, get your schedule, take a campus tour, and tie up any loose ends before you return to campus for classes to start. The session runs from approximately 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., so be sure to plan accordingly.

Want to experience what it will be like living in the residence halls? We have an exciting “Overnight Orientation” option where you can come the evening before, meet your orientation group early, and stay in the halls with us overnight. Sign up for this option when you register, and we will send you more information.

Transfer Students

As a transfer student, we know you have different needs than a new freshman. That’s why we’ve designed a specific orientation session just for you. Transfer orientation is designed for students who have been to one or more colleges after graduating high school.

The session pairs you with an orientation leader who will guide you through the things you need to know to successfully transition to your new Mariner life. You will leave the session with a better understanding of how your new College operates, where to go when you need support services, and making a few new friends along the way.

Transfer orientation is *highly recommended* to new students and runs from approximately 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., so be sure to plan accordingly.

Adult Freshmen

The Adult Freshmen session is designed for students age 25+ who have not been to a college or university since graduating from high school. In this program, you are paired with other adult learner orientation leaders who will give you the information you need to be successful when you return to school. You will leave the session with your course schedule and a new confidence in how well your first day of class is going to go.

Adult freshmen orientation is *highly recommended* to new students, and runs approximately from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., so be sure to plan accordingly.

Windward Scholars

Congratulations, Windward Scholar! This program, and special orientation program, is designed especially for Dual Enrollment students who have taken classes at the College during high school. We know you know your way around the campus, so we’ve designed a special orientation just for you. This program will focus less on the mechanics and more on the things you need to know to help you make the transition from Dual Enrollment student to full-time Mariner.

Windward Scholar orientation is *required* for qualifying students, and runs approximately from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to plan accordingly

If you have questions about orientation registration, please reach out to the Office of Admissions by emailing orientation@ccga.edu, (preferred), or by phone at 912-279-5701.
